||We changed to a large nail Jim found in the road-sdie gravel. The extra meat and higher iron content of the nail's steel proved the best material as a welding rod. Note the more intense arc. The welds held for the next 100 miles, until we hit a major group of pot holes on the freeway just as we came into Boise, Idaho. It felt as if the car nearly jumped off the trailer...the fender shook itself loose.
